I just found and watched this anime like yesterday, "Hataraku Saibou" or "Cells at Work" by Shimizu Akane that get anime serialization for this summer 2018 season anime. Originated from manga of the same title, telling a story about our cells, how they work inside our body and how they fight bacteria. Totally recommended since it's funny and educational. Shimizu Sensei also have 3 spin-off of the Hataraku Saibou series; Hataraku Saikin (Bacteria at Work), Hatarakanai Saibou (Cells that don't work) and Hataraku Saibou BLACK. It seems that each spin-off are created by different Authors but under the supervision of Shimizu Sensei. The other two series are pretty straight forward as the title suggest, Hataraku Saikin is telling a story of how bacteria works in our body, they are divided into 3 groups; Good Bacteria, Bad Bacteria and Neutral Bacteria. While Hatarakanai Saibou talks about red blood cells that are neet-ing in the nursery area or known as Red Bone Marrow that produce red blood cells (i hope i am correct in this). As for Hataraku Saibou BLACK, although I have not read yet, according to the synopsis from various sources this series talks about the cells that are working inside a severely ill body. Let's go back to the main series Hataraku Saibou, so far the manga is up to Volume 5 (about 25 chapters) and the first episode of Anime aired on 8 July 2018. The characters that have been introduce are the main cells; Red Blood Cells AE3803 and White Blood Cells U-1146. There is also other cells that will gradually get introduce as the anime goes on so far few other cells are; Macrophages, Platelets, Killer & Helper T Cells, Dendritic Cells and Ordinary Cells like just super normal they have "cells" written on their shirt XD. Red Blood Cells AE3803 A new red blood cells who is clumsy and a lost sheep, that just started her main job to deliver O2 and CO2 around the body as well as other nutrients and medicine (if any). White Blood Cells U-1146 One of the white blood cells type that kill foreign germs and viruses that invaded the body. They are very calm and gentle in the beginning but when encounter with antigens they become ruthless and bloody every single time. They also eat and break down the bacteria with a process called Phagocytosis. Macrophages A type of white blood cells that catch and kill bacteria, also determine antigens and information on immune system. They are also cleaners that remove debris of dead cells and bacteria, another job they take on is also a nursery care taker for new blood cells. Killer T Cells Also a type of white blood cells that are considered professional killer who exterminate harmful object in the body but only dispatched under Helper T Cell instruction. A very anger type blood cells like a angry commander, most of the time they are anger. Best friend with Helper T Cell. Helper T Cells Another type of T cells that has an intellectual disposition, a strategist that determine the course of action to deal with invaders when they received information about them, the commanding officer of killer T Cells. Dendritic Cells They are a cell that take fragments of bacteria cell and virus-infected cells and present them as antigens for other cells, they are also responsible for activating cells to their max ability. A stalker-ish paparazzi that takes and keeps embarrassing photos of other cells, it is to used it as blackmail and activation material, I love it when it happens. Platelets A type of blood cells that are responsible for reconstructing the body when injured or when blood vessels is damaged, also clog up wound. They are portray as kids in this series due to their actual cell size are smaller than others. The most precious and cutest cells I ever see working in the body. They cleanse my soul. Cells (Ordinary Cells) The citizens of the body, they are ordinary and easily infected by virus, will become zombie like with weird hat on. Their main job is to multiply themselves with cell division, when fail the bad cells can either develop to cancer cells or other diseases cells.
